anxiety is like an ocean

There’s not a lot I can say when it comes to writing about anxiety,

because she holds my throat closed.

the best metaphor I can come up with is that,

anxiety is like an ocean

it ebbs and flows

theres constant movement within

even if you don’t see it on the surface

sometimes there is peace and beauty

and other times there are dark clouds overhead

the brewing storm.

Walt Whitman also compared his existentialism to the ocean

“As I ebb’d with the ocean of life,”

He deemed himself inconsequential compared to the vast unknown

That’s what it’s like

and when you’re in a literal ocean of anxiety

finding something or someone worthy amidst the vast unknown

is what keeps you from drowning.
